Our home is 10 minutes (by car or bus) NW of Geelong. It is 25 minutes to the Great Ocean Road and some of the best beaches for swimming & surfing in Australia (google Great Ocean Road!) and Otway hinterland and forests.
Geelong is a cosmpolitan city, with terrific restaurants, theatres and shopping, set along Corio Bay - and only about 1 hour from Melbourne by train (daily return approx $15 Aust) and the best of shopping, retaurants, theatre and nightlife that Melbourne has to offer.
For those interested in travel within Australia, Geelong is also served by Avalon Airport (20 minutes towards Melbourne) from where cheap flights to Brisbane and Sydney are available, and the Melbourne airport is 1 hour away by bus.
