Spacious house in idyllic village, set in tranquil countryside

Chilbolton is an attractive, thatched Test Valley village near Stockbridge in rural north-west Hampshire. Our light, airy home is situated in a secluded close and benefits from real peace and quiet. There are local beauty spots, country pubs and numerous walks right from the doorstep.

Stonehenge, two national parks (South Downs & New Forest) and the stunning cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester are all within half an hour`s drive. Central London or the south coast beaches are an easy day-trip.

Our home is currently arranged to sleep 6 people in 4 large bedrooms (2 doubles with en-suites, 2 singles, family bathroom, downstairs cloakroom, 2 studies). Our cooking, dining and living areas are spacious and open-plan. One of the studies, used as an office, is normally kept locked and not part of the house swap.

Outside, we have sheltered outdoor dining/seating and an adventure play area for children, including two treehouses connected with a hanging bridge, slide, swings, rope ladders and a trampoline. There is plenty of parking on the drive.

Indoors, we have a piano, keyboard, board games, and home versions of table football (4 foot table) and snooker (6 foot table), which we can put up if you wish. We can loan baby/child equipment and toys on request and sometimes adult/child bikes if we are not taking them with us. The usual household appliances are available, but our tumble drier is very old so we recommend hanging washing to dry.

About the location

This part of rural Hampshire, in the south of the UK, comprises rolling hills of chalk downland dissected by crystal clear streams and dotted with quaint, thatched villages in hidden valleys.

Chilbolton is particularly peaceful as it is not on a main road – yet retains excellent access to the UK road network.

As well as beautiful, tranquil countryside in every direction and local beauty spots, Stonehenge (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is just half an hour away by car.

Two of England’s ten national parks are within easy reach: the South Downs National Park is a 20 minute drive and the New Forest National Park is a 35 minute drive.

The small, picturesque market town of Stockbridge with its wide Georgian High Street and independent shops is 5 minutes’ drive away, and the stunning cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury are 20 and 35 minutes’ drive respectively.
