The house is only 20 miles from Manchester city centre (the home of 2 famous football teams and many restaurants, theatres and cinemas) with good bus and tram connections. The Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and other areas of outstanding natural beauty are all within an hour to an hour and a half's drive away. Steam trains run through the valley every weekend and some week days. There are a number of excellent pubs serving real ale and a variety of high quality restaurants within easy walking distance.
