Byron has magnificent beaches, is near World Heritage and national parks with waterfalls, banana, avocado, coffee and macadamia plantations and is a top tourist destination. Byron is surrounded by small villages noted for their arts and crafts and hosts a Writers Festival and the world famous Blues and Roots Music Festival. It is a lively, artistic and largely unspoilt town about 2.5 hrs from Brisbane, 90 mins from the Gold Coast and 26 kms from Ballina airport.
