Romantic old hunting lodge - petit chateau in Provence
Our very romantic home with Italian frescoes in the ceiling is a 1830's, fully restored, four-storey villa, - an extension of a chateau, used as a hunting lodge during the Napoleonic era. Furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques, colonial and modern furniture we have collected of the years.
The walled and secluded property, with a view up on the Medieval hilltop villages of Fayence and Tourrettes, has 1.5 acre land and a swimming pool for lengths. The villages are only 5 minutes away - the nearest neighbour is a sheep farm and behind the hill lies a vineyard and a gliders school.
We bought the home after we sold our previous one to be nearer our children who were studying in the UK and in Switzerland at the time. So its the two of us, with our 2 children - 17 and 22 visiting.
We can’t do swaps during the high season end June until early September.
Besides holiday swaps we could also consider a long term swap with a London apartment or house for our son between September and May. So this is your chance to have a year (almost) in Provence. The primary school near us enrols foreign children.
About the location
Our house is 45 min from Nice airport. Surrounded by vineyards, the southern tip of the French Alpes, the beach half an hour away. 5 min from the villages. Not exactly rural-not exactly suburban. Something in between the two.
