Our home is on a canal in Runaway Bay, on the the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia. It is a very quiet and peaceful area and the house is at the end of a cul-de-sac. The house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, 10m swimming pool, double garage and lots of outdoor living areas.
We are situated at the Northern end of the Gold Coast which makes us between Brisbane airport and the Coolangatta airport. Approximately 80km from Brisbane airport which is the main international airport and Gold Coast being 50km which is mostly domestic, but has some flights from New Zealand and Asia.
Upstairs has two bedrooms, one being the master with a balcony overlooking the pool and canal, with an en-suite. Plus a second bedroom set up with a QB and SB, with built in robes. Also a small office/study. Downstairs another two bedrooms each with a QB, a full bathroom with spa bath and shower, separate WC all off of the lobby. Also on the ground floor is the main living area, there is a lounge, fully equipped kitchen, double fridge/freezer with in door ice and water, sitting room and dining room all facing the canal and 10 metre pool. All these have glass sliding doors that allow a nice airflow through the house. There is a covered outdoor area on the canal side and another one at the front in an area with stags and other ferns. There are two BBQ's, the smaller being a gas fired Weber Q which we use mostly and cook majority of our meals on it. There is also another larger built-in gas fired BBQ should anything bigger be needed for entertaining.
There is a walkway to a floating pontoon on the canal, but no boat. Pool is fully safety fenced with glass panelling and a child proof gate.
There is a low mileage Nissan 4WD Pathfinder in excellent condition that would be available if required.
Because the house is in a cul-de-sac we have little passing traffic and the neighbours are all retired and would always be able to offer suggestions and advice about the area.
There is a double garage and double carport, both with electric panel lift doors. The gardens are low maintenance.
Our local marina (5 minutes drive) has a weekly trawler that sells fresh caught prawns (shrimp) most weekends, and having just returned from a short walk there, can only say that the local seafood (see photo) is arguably amongst the best in the world.
We are five minutes drive to Runaway Bay Shopping Village which has three major supermarkets and several major stores, as well as lots of smaller shops. There are chemists, doctor, dentists etc. all available there. Close by is a hotel and several restaurants. Possibly a further five minutes drive takes you to Harbourtown, which is a purpose built outlet centre. Again with restaurants and a hotel. We are about 8 minutes drive to the Broadwater, where you can walk for as far or as little as you wish, all along purpose built walking paths along the water. Drive another 10 minutes and you are at Main Beach and on the surf beaches which go for many miles and are always kept in pristine condition. In the opposite direction you can drive to Paradise Point. This is a lovely village type atmosphere, with cafe's, restaurants and a few boutique type shops. Also Sovereign Island and Ephraim Island both with beautiful homes set in an ideal location.
