Our home in Bustling, Trendy Crouch End
We live on a pleasant, quiet, residential road in Crouch End which is a middle-class, family-friendly neighbourhood in north London.
We have a spacious three/four-bedroom family house with a delightful, large back garden. Downstairs, the kitchen-dining room is large and light with a fully equipped, modern kitchen. The comfortable large lounge has a piano and a working fireplace (wood is available). Upstairs are three bedrooms and a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. In the very large master bedroom there is a double bed; the second bedroom has two, full-size bunk beds and there is a third bedroom with a single bed. (The lounge downstairs has a double sofa-bed and can act as a fourth bedroom.)
About the location
The bustling centre of Crouch End is a 5 minute walk from our house, with three or four convenient small supermarkets but also many independent shops: several bakers, two independent butchers, delis, fruit and veg, a gallery or two and dozens of independent cafes. Restaurants of many varieties from Malaysian and Vietnamese to fine French, Italian and Thai food as well as tapas, pizzas, fish-and-chips and ice-cream parlour and a gastro-pub or two. There are also many convenience shops within a couple minutes of the house and a farmers' market nearby every Sunday. A brand new arthouse cinema and performance centre is 3 minutes' walk from our house. a pretty, child- and dog-friendly park with cafe, paddling-pool and free tennis courts is 4 minutes in the other direction. In other words, there is plenty to keep you occupied in Crouch End!
However, our house is also a great base from which to explore the delights of North London - close by are the Alexandra Palace (exhibitions, ice-skating, boating pond, large park with views over London), Kenwood House and grounds (art gallery in beautiful old house with restaurant and gardens) and the lovely old London "villages" of Hampstead (up-market shopping, fabulous Hampstead Heath for walking, running, outdoor swimming, kite-flying, picnicking and relaxing) and Highgate (historic centre and famous cemetery). You can also walk in Highgate or Queen's woods, the latter being fifteen minutes on foot from our house.
Last but by no means least, if you want to visit the many exciting museums, theatres, and other attractions of central London, then Crouch End has excellent transport links. The nearest train station is Hornsey (7 mins walk, which also has a rapid link to Cambridge). There are 3 tube stations about 10-15 mins away by convenient buses which stop a minute or two from our house. From these you can reach central London within another 15-20 minutes. The slower but more scenic route is on the top of the double-decker 91 bus taking you directly from Crouch End directly to Trafalgar square for all central theatres, the National Gallery and the Thames. There is also a nearby overground link to Richmond and Kew Gardens. Don't hesitate to ask us if you have any particular questions about visiting London.
