Victorian 3 bedroom house in Oxfordshire market town

A pretty, 3-4 bed semi-detached Victorian house in Wantage, within easy walking distance of the town centre. Downstairs, there is a large open plan dining room and double-aspect lounge, a large kitchen, brand new conservatory, utility area and downstairs toilet and shower. Upstairs we have a family bathroom with bath and shower and 3 bedrooms: 1 double master with ensuite; 1 guest double; and 1 guest with one/two singles. In the converted loft, we have additional space for an office and an alternative child`s bedroom. We are a retired professional couple but we have several child-friendly things in place for our own grandchildren, including a travel cot, highchair and lots of toys! There is a children`s playground close by and a free museum in Wantage with fun things for kids to do.

Outside, there is a large patio with garden table and chairs. We have a sizeable garden containing fruit trees, flower beds and lawns, together with a comfy swing seat.

We also own a pretty cottage in Malestroit, Brittany, France with 3 double bedrooms. The area is quiet and rural but close to beautiful towns like Vannes and Rennes and near to the coast, the Golfe de Morbihan and holiday attractions. The house could be included in any swap if you`re not interested in Oxfordshire or you`d like to divide your time between the two. I can provide you with further details.

About the location

Wantage is an attractive and friendly market town in Oxfordshire. It has two supermarkets (Waitrose and Sainsbury`s) plus a range of independent shops and a twice-weekly market. The town has a wide variety of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.

Links with the past are very strong; King Alfred the Great was born here and we are very close to the pre-historic site of the Uffington White Horse. You`re only half an hour`s drive from the famous university city of Oxford, and even closer to dozens of beautiful countryside villages and pubs. Oxford caters for all needs but is particularly not to be missed if you`re interested in history or classical music. Access to London and places further afield is easy via the railway station at Didcot. London is 45 minutes from Didcot with frequent trains. Roman Bath is also an hour away while Cheltenham is even closer. We are close to the Chilterns and the Cotswolds (areas of outstanding natural beauty), with plenty of opportunities for walks and bike rides.
