Small holding - Aberdeenshire, Scotland

The house is an old Manse built in 1870 belonging to the church up the road. We run it as a small holding with a few animals now. You are welcome to look after them or we can arrange cover. It`s fairly low maintenance, if you can carry a bucket of water you`ll be ok. Exactly what is here will change, but some permutation of pigs, geese, chickens and sheep to be fed, let out in the morning and locked up at dusk. No mucking out required. The rest of the day you can do as you please so plenty opportunity to explore the surrounding area. We have 4 acres which is currently mostly to pasture. The house has 4 double bedrooms and a bunkbed, but plenty room for further accommodation if you are not too fussy on how you sleep. There is a dressing room, and a snug which could comfortably take a double air bed (we have a few of those too). The garden has a fire pit and bbq area should you be lucky enough to see the Scottish sun shine.

About the location

Generally the immediate area is very rural offering forest walks and village pubs although there is little within walking distance you will absolutely need a car. The nearest town and public transport connection is Ellon, 10 miles away, then several more villages about the same in different directions, and park estates such as Haddo House and Aiden. Half hour drive to the city of Aberdeen or one of several fantastic wild beaches. This is an excellent location for golf including Trump International, Royal Aberdeen, and Cruden Bay. You could hire a boat and go fishing or whale watching. We are on the Castle trail and within a comfortable and beautiful day trip to Royal Deeside or the Cairngorm national park where you will find the Speyside whisky trail, mountaineering, skiing and all that Aviemore has to offer. Stirling, Perth, St Andrews and Dundee and Inverness are all 1.5 to 2 hours away, Edinburgh is 3 hours by car or train and also can be done in a day.
