Great base for England's premier historic city.

We may not live in a palace but we love our house - a modernised two storey 1920s semi, built with three bedrooms. Downstairs is a good sized lounge and a spacious modern kitchen connected to a separate dining room via an arch that can be closed off by a venetian blind. That dining room opens onto our small south facing rear garden - also fairly described as a large landscaped patio. It is small but great for sun bathing and eating out We have lots of books and original art-work. There is gas central heating and a wood burner in the lounge.
The house easily sleeps four or five adults in a variety of ways. Upstairs are three rooms but only two have (double) beds - the other, a study, can easily be made suitable as a bedroom for a child. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge. The large front bedroom has an en-suite walk-in shower and wc. There is a separate fully fitted bathroom with wc and over the bath shower.

About the location

The neighbourhood is quiet as are our lovely neighbours. On-street parking is free. The house is about five minutes walk from York’s Knavesmire common and racecourse. There are various river and road walks into the old city, which can be reached this way within twenty minutes. The journey is also easy and safe by cycle, with national cycle routes nearby. Bikes can be securely kept in the rear garden. Nearby is one of England’s best local high streets (Google ‘Bishy Road’ for details). This has really good restaurants, cafes and shops, including two small supermarkets and a delicatessen. Also nearby are several good pubs, park areas and the river. York is a wonderful city with loads to do and see and it’s all right on our doorstep!
