About the location

Heemskerk is 5 minutes cycling from a Nature reserve with woods and dunes, the Noord-Hollands Duin reservaat. It takes 20 minutes by bicycle through nature to get to a large quiet family beach and the North Sea.
It is a 35 minute drive to Amsterdam (which is 30 kms away).
Public transport is excellent. There are 4 train stations within a 5 km range, all with trains to Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport and the rest of the country.
In Wijk aan Zee (5 kms away) there's a variety of beach and water sport activities (including paragliding, blokarting, surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing).
We are situated near a bulb and flower growing area (tulips!), tourist interests such as the the Alkmaar Cheese Market, Volendam and Zandvoort racing circuit.
Towards the eastern side the typical dutch landscape consisting of polders has its own appeal with lakes, water ways and meadows. Activities such as cycling, sailing, boating, swimming and windsurfing can be pursued.
