Luxurious 240 year old stone built Irish cottage, near Belfast
This beautiful house was originally built c.240 years ago as a row of 'bleachers cottages' - part of the estate of the Linen Mill which was situated just a couple of hundred yards away. The cottages accommodated several families, who made a living by bleaching the linens in the stream which sits at the bottom of the garden.
Over the years the cottages have been modernized by their series of owners, to the point they are today which is that they sit as a single dwelling house. They still retain however their 2.5ft thick walls- built from boulders and stones and held together with traditional lime mortar.
Although the linen mill itself was sadly demolished many years ago, the heavy iron gates for the house are those which originally hung at the entrance to the mill- keeping a memory of it alive today.
The house has been designed for family living, and it is our hope that when staying here you will find it to feel like a home from home.
All the normal facilities for day to day family living are included, and additional requests for a games console, toys or even additional beds can be accommodated
