Very unusual home for England - half an hour's drive to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales

Our home is very unusual for an English house. It is very light, with very large floor to ceiling windows in the living room and main bedroom and lots of sky lights in the roof. The main bedroom has a south facing balcony, which on warm, sunny days is wonderful. There is also a very large communal garden with a very friendly, respectful atmosphere. The downstairs of our home is an open plan space with very well-equipped kitchen and sun-filled South-facing living room with an unspoilt view of green grass and trees.

About the location

5 minutes walk away is 'Chapel Allerton' village, full of independent cafes, shops and bars, including an Arts cafe/bar that has lots of live music, theatre and film events. Next door to the house is a large public park, great for a walk or a picnic, or a run and tennis if you prefer more activity. Just a mile up the road there is also Roundhay Park, one of the biggest parks and urban green spaces in Europe. The city centre is only 2 miles in the opposite direction, with lots of unique and interesting shops, galleries and cafe's and a waterfront quarter along the River Aire. There are plenty of other cultural experiences in the form of Opera North, Northern Ballet - voted best ballet company in Europe 2015, The Yorkshire Playhouse and the Henry Moore Institute and if you like designer shopping there is the Victoria Quarter with a huge range of shops, including Harvey Nichols and other British labels such as Vivienne Westwood. There is the historic city of York just 40 minutes drive away or 30 minutes on the train. Finally, if you want to see some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain, just a half hours drive and you are in Nidderdale, named an area of outstanding natural beauty by British Heritage and then you are at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
