About the location

Leiston thrived in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a manufacturing and market town. Its works boasted the world`s first flow assembly line for the manufacture of portable steam engines and are now a museum with regular steam days. The variety of shops in town includes a supermarket, greengrocers, chemist and the oldest continuously working cinema in the country! Saxmundham, 5 km away, has Waitrose and Tesco as well as several cafes, pubs and restaurants. Nearest beach to the cottage is just over a kilometre away and offers great birdwatching and dog walking opportunities. Further afield along the Suffolk Heritage Coast are beaches at Thorpeness, Southwold and Dunwich. The house is within easy reach of Aldeburgh, Orford Castle, Saxmundham and Snape.
