Kent Cottage
Kent Cottage is a 3-bed character cottage with a courtyard garden which is lovely to sit out for meals in the spring/summer/autumn months.
The cottage is situated off a quiet unmade road/ lane, yet is just minutes away from a bustling village centre with bars/restaurants/pubs and independent shops. The interior is contemporary scandi/modern. It has a large kitchen/dining space (inc woodburner) and views to the garden.
We have an art studio workspace that also looks on to the garden and doubles as a sitting/reading room (with wood-burner). There is also a hall with sofa .
Please note we do not own a TV. When we want to see something we watch programmes on our laptops (so please bring yours) - or we do have a projector that can project onto the studio wall (if hooked up to your laptop). We also have plenty of books to read.
Upstairs there is a spacious bathroom with shower and bath, and two good-sized bedrooms (the third double is used as a dressing-room/ workspace with desk).
Whilst we are happy to have well-behaved pets, we`re less sure about accommodating young children due to some breakable art items and ornaments. We do have a very well-behaved older cat we can either bring with us (she's very good) or leave her here if you're happy to pet sit. We're also more than happy to pet sit your animals.
About the location
Surrounded on three sides by water, the Wirral peninsula is a great base to explore all sorts of activities and is an area of outstanding natural beauty in parts.
Kent Cottage is situated in a pretty conservation area of Victorian and Edwardian homes, with many listed buildings. Oxton is a small village which is lovely to explore. It is also close to bars, pubs, restaurants and leafy and coastal local walks of (Heswall, West Kirby, New Brighton, Thurstaston, Parkgate, Neston). Birkenhead Park is also a short walk away and famous for New York Central Park being modelled on its design. The famous, Port Sunlight Village is only a short hop too.
You also have the River Mersey close by, which has great views over to Liverpool from this side and you can get the famous ferry across the Mersey. It is also only a 15-minute drive over to Liverpool for nightlife and exploration including the Tate and Walker art galleries (and others). There is certainly plenty going on, including the Albert Dock area (museums, restaurants, bars, shops), two beautiful cathedrals and several parks. Plus, great if you want to immerse yourself in all things, The Beatles.
You are also only 30 minutes from the historic city of Chester (which has a lovely walk around the Roman walls). If you want real rural, you`re also only an hour from North Wales, an hour and a half to Anglesey and two hours to the Lakes.
