Converted Victorian Mine Rescue Station

My self contained one bedroomed flat is part of a converted Victorian Mine Rescue Station building which also houses my workshop and teaching studio.

The living room and kitchen are open plan with the bathroom opening off the kitchen. It’s warm and light throughout but compact and suitable for 2/3. There is a double and single bed in the adjacent bedroom but also a sofa/day bed in the living area. It’s fully fitted for a comfortable stay.

It looks onto Brigham Church and has a garden area to the front to sit in.

Access is up a couple of steps but otherwise all on one level. Parking is on road, outside.

About the location

Brigham is a small village on the outskirts of Cockermouth which is a lovely market town on the fringe of the English Lake District. This is a quiet undiscovered area of Cumbria with fantastic quiet cycling routes, beaches and lakes and mountains all within a 10 mile radius. Keswick, Centre of the Northern Lakes, is 20 mins by car but one of the benefits of my position is that it is over the road from a major bus stop/route and you can access Cockermouth in 5 mins by bus and Keswick in 40 mins meaning you can sit back and enjoy the views with no concerns about car parking. There are other bus connections in Cockermouth and Keswick that can take you further throughout the Lake District, Carlisle and Hadrians Wall.

If you choose to walk to Cockermouth, 2 miles, you can do so along the banks of the River Derwent or take the walking/cycling route which runs past my door.

Being in the west of the County gives easy access to stunning areas such as Crummock water, Loweswater, Ennerdale and Wastwater with a huge variety of walking routes.

Close by is the interesting National Trust Wordsworth House with lovely gardens and house to explore. There are numerous galleries in Cockermouth and the Surrounding area alongside a wide variety of cafes and various dining choices.

Maryport, a small fishing town, is 6 miles with a continuous walking and cycling path that takes you through the Solway area to Carlisle. You can connect there with the Cumbrian Coast train line that has to have some of the best rail coastal views in the UK.
