Family home in the 'Gateway to Dartmoor'
We are a family of four who are lucky enough to live within walking distance of Dartmoor and 15 minutes' drive from the sea. Our home is is a terraced house with a kitchen large enough for dining, comfortable living space and three bedrooms (one en-suite) arranged over three floors. There is one king, one double, and bunk beds with a trundle bed underneath - potentially sleeping 7.
While we think you'll enjoy all of our home, the highlight is probably the garden - it goes for miles and acts as a place for playing, growing, and keeping our guinea pigs and chickens. It's a bit 'Good Life' admittedly, but we like it.
In terms of mod cons, you'll be able to take advantage of a range cooker plus a well-stocked kitchen with US-style fridge-freezer (if you're into self-catering). There's a 55-inch TV in the living room, plus a 42-inch TV in the upper guest bedroom, for relaxing - and we have superfast internet speeds for as much streaming as you need. There's a washing machine and dryer in the utility room.
It's a low maintenance home, and the only thing to bear in mind is we will ask you to look after our pets (no cleaning, just feed - also low maintenance!) and maybe give the garden the odd watering down.
About the location
We live in a market town called Bovey Tracey - small enough to feel relaxed but large enough to contain a good range of local shops (including a butchers, cheesemongers, deli, bakery plus small supermarkets), pubs, places to eat, some great local attractions including the famous House of Marbles and more besides. We are also two minutes' walk from a gorgeous heated open air swimming pool which is open daily during the warmer months.
Looking further afield, larger supermarkets can be found at Newton Abbot (10 minutes' drive), and our nearest beaches are in the lovely town of Teignmouth (15 minutes), although we are within striking distance of more incredible beauty spots and beaches in the South Hams (20-40 minutes, depending on where you go). The cities of Exeter and Plymouth are both less than 30 minutes' drive away, and there's plenty to do in both.
And of course, there's Dartmoor! We really do live on the doorstep of this incredible and magical place, full of craggy tors, spectacular views, heather meadows and clear-running steams. If you're up for the occasional walk, you'll absolutely love it.
We think you'll love staying here. Devon doesn't really need an introduction and Bovey is a genuinely lovely place to spend time in and has a range of things to do. And in addition to that you'll be staying in a much-cared for family home with a garden you can kick back and relax in.
