Scottish Seaside Cottage
My cottage is in the picturesque Scottish seaside village of Findochty, by the historic harbour, still a working harbour for some fishermen and a marina for leisure sailors and their yachts.
About the location
Moray is in NE Scotland and the seaside village of Findochty is approximately half-way between Aberdeen and Inverness.
This part of Scotland is world famous for its salmon fishing in the rivers Spey, Dee and Don, the whisky distillery trail and the many castles and gardens open to the public within Moray and Aberdeenshire. The area is well known for hiking or mountaineering, pony trekking, the national Cairngorms park and the cities of Aberdeen (the Granite City and oil capital of Europe) and Inverness (Capital of the Highlands).
Moray has beautiful countryside with woods, coastal scenery, historic towns and villages hosting summer Highland Games, ceilidhs and agricultural shows. Wildlife includes: red and roe deer; eagles and falcons; pods of dolphins; seals and some minke whales; hares; some of the UK's last surviving red squirrels; badgers.
For history and culture the area also has the Pictish Class I & II Symbol Stones, Neolithic Standing Stones, the historic castles and country houses, and the Culloden battlefield near Inverness (the last battle fought on British soil).
