Comfortable family home in English Lake District

We live in the beautiful Lake District in Cockermouth, birthplace of poet William Wordsworth.

We are a family of 4, with two older teenagers. Our three bedroom family is well-set up for holidays and sleeps 5. We also have blow-up mattresses available, WIFI, Netflix, TV and plenty of books and games.

The house has a pleasant garden, three bathrooms and an open-plan family living area. It is modern, warm and comfortable. A small office is also available, a washer drier and dishwasher, and we have family bikes and a blow-up kayak which may be used. We do have 3 cats, who are quite independent but need feeding and enjoy company.

It is peaceful and quiet but 5 minutes walk from town with pubs, restaurants and tourist attractions. It has a supermarket 2 minutes away and is also on bus routes to the coast and the Lakes.

About the location

We are 10 minutes drive from Bassenthwaite Lake and 20 minutes from the lakes of Crummock and Buttermere and the tourist town of Keswick, near Derwentwater lake. Whinlatter Forest with Go Ape and mountain biking is 15 minutes drive, as are many museums, galleries, cinemas and other attractions. The wild Solway Coast is 8 miles away with an aquarium, seaside and coastal walks.

A car is recommended, but not required, and we have 2 parking spaces. Nearest airports are Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and Edinburgh. Day trips to Scotland are easy by car and train.
