Gorgeous, comfortable home in beautiful countryside

Our lovely, quirky wooden house is in the beautiful village of Tipton St John in East Devon`s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is a large bungalow with three bedrooms, large kitchen, large sitting room and comfortably sleeps five. There is a master bedroom with super-king sized bed, a large children`s bedroom with a single bed and a smaller bedroom with a single bed. There is also a loft room with a further double bed and TV room, our kids currently use this as their den.

We have a friendly, fluffy cat called Millie who is very sweet and affectionate and loves cuddles. And we would love to welcome swappers who are happy to look after her during their stay.

We have a large garden with a wonderful array of plant and animal life, as well as a magical tree house.

The house is surrounded by gorgeous countryside, and quiet with no light or noise pollution, unless you count the birds, lambs and cows! We have a gate at the bottom of the garden that takes you out on to bridle path up to East Hill and countless wonderful walks, or head out on to the quiet farm road and straight down to the river walk at Tipton.

About the location

We are situated in a rural position surrounded by farmland and woodland. It is green and tranquil and yet perfectly placed to access beaches, towns and all the great activities East Devon has to offer.

The Jurassic Coast is 10 minutes away - we are very close to the beautiful beach towns of Sidmouth (less than 10 minutes), Budleigh Salterton (15 minutes), Beer (15 minutes), Seaton and Branscombe. Ladram Bay, Exmouth (all around 20 mins) and Lyme Regis (25 mins) are also well worth a visit.

Or turn the other way to Ottery St Mary with its eclectic mix of independent shops and cafes. Here you`ll find an outstanding greengrocer and cheesemonger (Rabbit & Co), a traditional butcher (K&M), as well as an excellent coffee shop (Sup Dawg) and restaurant (Fat Otter).

Head to Topsham for kayaking on the estuary and the famous Darts` Farm farm shop for delicious food and great restaurants, just 20 mins` drive away. And of course there is Exeter, just 35 minutes' drive for great shopping, theatres, art galleries, cinemas and restaurants.

If you enjoy wild swimming, Dartmoor is 35 minutes' drive, where you'll find the majestic River Dart. And Dartmoor is paradise for walkers of every ability. Just don't forget to stop off at Creamo's Ice Cream shop in the historic town of Ashburton on the way home (open Fri-Sun in the summertime).

We are perfectly placed to spend a day out in foodie towns of Totnes and Dartmouth, or pop over the border into Cornwall to the Eden Project. There is so much to do in the area I could be here all day, please feel free to ask us for more recommendations.

We have two large supermarkets within 10 minutes' drive and there are plenty of lovely independent shops in Ottery St Mary, Sidmouth and surrounding towns.
