Colonial Home with Massive Views
Our home is centrally located in the Art Deco city of Napier in the heart of the Hawke`s Bay wine district. We have a commanding position overlooking our pretty (and small) city, with a 5 minute walk into town and services. Situated down a driveway off the road, it opens up into a haven of flat land with a small front lawn, a terraced back area and, due to it owning the knob of the hill - opens up to about a 300 degree view of ocean, the mighty Heretaunga Valley, over town and back at Napier Hill. We have 2 neighbouring houses behind us, so you feel like you are in your own piece of the world. We have owned it for over 20 years, and it`s restoration has been a labour of love! It is beautifully furnished - but not fancy. It comes with 2 young cats - they are easy, but they do need care! Because of the nature of the home and land - this home is not suitable for children.
About the location
We have 3 small cities in our region - Napier is a resort town in the summer - we have great beaches, but because they are stone and black sand we are not a classic NZ beach town. Our main attraction is Art Deco and our vineyards. Several rivers run from the ranges to the sea - they are beautiful and due to their stop-banks, we have an amazing cycling network which will take you on adventures all over our region. It is one of our favourite things to do - stunning views and no need to be on the roads. Hastings is the larger city - 23 kms away, this is in the centre of the Heretaunga Plains and is more provincial (servicing the horticulture and farming communities), but has been revamped of late so has a small - but great - restaurant area. Then Havelock North (about 30K people), nestled on the Te Mata Peak range - fabulous bars and restaurants and community. We chose to live in Hawkes Bay because it is so beautiful!
