Edinburgh (City Centre) apartment, next to Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park
City centre in a 3-bed apartment overlooking Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat. Holyrood Park is essentially our back garden and the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Palace, and Calton Hill are all a short walk away. We're a 10 minute walk to Waverley Station and Princes Street. We're extremely close to the bustling Newington area - also known as the Southside; typified by having a range of local shops, restaurants and cafes - and all within easy distance to the Pleasance, Meadows, Scottish Museum, Royal Mile, The Castle, and other attractions nearby. My home is an excellent base to explore Edinburgh and to also go on interesting local walks making the most of the City's unique topography. My home is located within a residential housing scheme in a quiet neighbourhood set back from the hustle and bustle. Close enough to be near everything, but quiet enough to get peace and quiet when you need it!
About the location
The Southside (south east) of Edinburgh’s City Centre, the area is packed full of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. The properties here are very mixed, from traditional townhouses and medieval flats to modern developments. The Pleasance is a street bordering the Old Town. At the end of the Cowgate, the area is a remnant of the original town walls. Deriving from the old Scots word ‘plesance’, meaning a park or garden, today’s Pleasance is right next to the sprawling Holyrood Park. The area is known mostly for its role during the Edinburgh Festival.
East of Edinburgh City Centre, Holyrood lies at the bottom of the Royal Mile. Originally a separate burgh, it was a largely industrial part of the city with several breweries and a flint glassworks until the 19th century. Modern Holyrood is the home of the Scottish Parliament Building, Holyrood Park, Dynamic Earth and the Palace of Holyroodhouse – making its most famous resident none other than the Queen.
Situated just off Holyrood Road, the area has a number of good local amenities with local shopping at Meadowbank Shopping Park, as well as an easy commute to the City Centre. Holyrood Park boasts its own extinct volcano. Arthur’s Seat offers one of the most spectacular views of the city.
