House in south west Sheffield near the Peak District

Our house has is a semidetached 1930s house with a large private garden with apple and pear trees, largely rewilded lawn and a tiny pond. It is a great place for little children to play as long as you watch them near the pond. We have a drive where we keep or motorhome, but there is easy parking on the road.

Downstairs there is a kitchen diner extension, where you can sip your morning coffee and watch the birds, squirrels and occasional fox pass by. Also at the back of the house is a large sitting room with a big comfy (if battered ) leather sofa and TV. In the front of the house there is a sizeable dining room with a large table, and view out to the road through big bay windows. There is a walk in shower room and toilet downstairs. Upstairs are three double bedrooms. One with king size bed, ensuite bathroom and a dressing room with a camp bed that can be used as a child’s bedroom. The other double bedrooms are at the back of the house, one with king size bed, the other double. There is a fourth room that is currently used as an artist studio. There is a shower room and toilet.

About the location

Our house is in the south west suburb of Sheffield. You can access the attractions of the Peak District easily on a bus or by car. The area is well served by busses. A 15 minute bus ride can easily take you into the peaks or the centre of Sheffield. In Sheffield you have access to many sites including the crucible theatre, millennium museum, art galleries station and the two universities. You can walk along the valley to hunters bar, along Ecclesall road with its quirky cafés and shops into the city centre.

There are many country walks near the house. From the house you can walk to Ecclesall woods, where you can stroll through a cathedral of old oak and chestnut trees on paths to a woodland café. It is also very near Whirlow farm which offers walkways through farmland and a café with a good playground for children. There is a group of shops 10 minutes walk away which house a bakery, butchers, chemist, grocery store and green grocers.
