Derbyshire Cottage in Rural Village
The house is snug in winter, with a log burner and a comfortable living areas. In summer, the garden and courtyard are private, and have lovely views across the the valley and surrounding hills - an ideal spot for a BBQ.
There are two staircases, each leading to separate bedrooms and bathrooms, which means if you are travelling with friends, you can enjoy your privacy.
Upstairs, there is a super-king size bedroom, an ensuite king size bedroom, as well as a double and a single bedroom. There is an additional double sofa bed in the study on the ground floor. The house has a cellar, a dining room and downstairs loo. It is a family home with masses of character and all the character of an eighteenth century Derbyshire farmhouse.
About the location
Our house is around three hundred years old, and has previously been a village shop, a public house, and a tailor`s shop, although it was converted to a family home in the 1940s. We have lived here for many years, and love its location at the heart of a beautiful Peak District village, opposite a traditional, pub. It is a ten minute walk from Carsington Water with its leisure facilities, trails and sailing club.
The nearby market towns of Ashbourne and Wirksworth (both a ten minute drive) both have great arts festivals, and offer a good selection of pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and shops.
