Family home in the beautiful, historic East Neuk of Fife

Our home is located in the beautiful, historic fishing village of Cellardyke in the East Neuk of Fife. The house is a detached bungalow and has two bedrooms, living room, bathroom, galley kitchen and conservatory / dining room which seats up to six people. There is a private garden at the rear with a lawn, patio and table and chairs for al fresco dining. The garden and conservatory are south-facing and a real sun-trap in the summer.

The house has one double bedroom with king size bed, and one kids bedroom with bunk beds. We have plenty of toys, books, games and lego to keep children entertained. The house has a brand-new central heating system, powered by an air-source heat pump, as well as solar thermal panels for water heating. There is a drive with off-street parking and an EV charger. Wi-fi is available throughout the house.

We are located in a quiet, residential cul-de-sac, with the stunning Fife coast just a five-minute walk away. The neighbouring town of Anstruther is also within easy walking distance (10 – 15 minutes).

About the location

The East Neuk of Fife is one of Scotland’s most beautiful coastal areas, with a string of picturesque fishing villages connected by the Fife Coastal Path. The villages of Cellardyke and Anstruther are joined together but have very different atmospheres. Anstruther bustles with people and the large harbour is packed with fishing and sailing boats. Cellardyke is quieter, with narrow, cobbled streets leading to a tiny harbour where you can look out for dolphins, seals, puffins and gannets.

A five-minute walk from the house will take you to Cellardyke tidal pool, a popular wild-swimming spot. Here you will find East Neuk Outdoors, a family-run outdoor activity centre that offers canoeing and kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, axe-throwing and bushcraft. You can also hire wetsuits here if you just fancy a dip in the pool.

If you fancy something more leisurely then you could relax in the Cellardyke seaside sauna (next to the tidal pool) or take a stroll along the Fife Coastal Path.

Anstruther is the largest of the East Neuk villages, with a lively harbour lined with shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. One of the top attractions has to be tucking into award-winning local fish and chips on the seafront. You can also visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum, for a trip through Scotland’s rich fishing heritage.

Anstruther harbour is the starting point for boat trips to the Isle of May National Nature Reserve – either on the fast RIB Osprey, or the more sedate May Princess. A trip to the island is a must for nature lovers. In the early summer seabirds cram onto the island’s towering cliffs and puffins peak out from their grassy burrows. Seals haul out on the beaches and gannets, whales and dolphins can be spotted in the surrounding waters.

Venture out of Cellardyke and Anstruther and you will find the nearby villages of Crail, Pittenweem, St Monans and Elie, all of which have their own unique charm. There are beautiful sandy beaches and rocky shorelines to explore, as well as Cambo Estate with its stunning walled garden. Throughout the summer there are various local festivals including the East Neuk Festival in June and the Pittenweem Arts Festival in August.

The historic university town of St Andrews is just nine miles away and both Edinburgh and Dundee are within easy reach for day trips.
