Nestled in the Redwoods...a modest home with a hot tub overlooking the forest...

This 1200sf home is a modest single storey construction. It has been extensively modernized - with a solar system and new roof and insulation and a remodeled bathroom, plus new appliances and a cozy gas fireplace. The pleasant garden area offers good privacy, a bistro table, and views into the forest. In addition the well-screened hot tub is a joy on foggy moonlit evenings and sunny mornings alike.
A stunning Golf Course is half a mile away, and the university town of Arcata (pop 17000) is 2 miles away from our our semi-rural location. We also have a 33 foot boat in the harbour (where you could sleep a night or two if you would like a water-based camping adventure ! An old 4x4 vehicle can be loaned to you if proper insurance can be verified.
Our wonderful cat (Olive) will remain on the premises. Be advised that the rain forest climate is quite humid- we have an industrial strength de-humidifier but it barely keeps up in some months. We absolutely love living here, and we hope that you will enjoy your stay in using the home as a base to explore "Redwoods, rivers, mountains and beaches" (and Bigfoot)

About the location

Humboldt County is in the extreme North of California and boasts endless Redwood forests, plus miles of pristine and under-populated beaches. Most people here are active- so whether you are into climbing, mountain biking, surfing, kayaking or hiking/backpacking, it is a veritable (rural-coastal) wonderland. If you prefer "heat" then the mountainous interior (and summer heat) is 45 minutes drive inland.

Arcata hosts organic Farmers` Markets, and several Festivals throughout the year. The City is known world-wide for its ground-breaking wastewater management system known as the "Arcata Marsh". The area is home to several indigenous tribes and multiple National Parks and Wilderness areas. From bird-watchers to micro-brew beer fans, there is something for everyone (* except those who prefer big cities!)

* Guests should be aware that California is huge- and San Francisco is a good 300 miles south! The Oregon border is only 80 miles North from us.
